What is the difference between IELTS and OET?

The main difference is the context within which each test is taken. The IELTS test will test your English within the context of a wide variety of topics. The OET will test your ability within the context of your medical profession. Therefore, if you are a nurse or a doctor, you will be tested on things related to your job. However there are several more differences in terms of  cost, availability, preparation and more.

What is the NMC CBT Test of Competence Part 1?

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)Test of Competence Part 1 is a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 120 Multiple Choice Questions to answer in 240 Minutes (four hours). Candidates will be tested on a range of generic nursing competencies as well as topics relevant to your specific field of adult nursing. The NMC CBT Online tests applicants’ theoretical and practice-based knowledge and awareness of how the NMC Code is practised in the UK. The Future Perfect Health Admin team will take care of scheduling and booking your CBT Online Test at a test centre in the applicants’ country of residence.

How do you "pass" the NMC CBT Part 1 Exam?

The minimum Pass score is 66%. The CBT is a multiple-choice exam, which tests your theoretical practice-based knowledge. You’ll need to answer 120 questions and achieve a score of 66 % to pass the exam. The NMC reviews the pass mark regularly and it may change over time.

What is the UK Tier 2 Visa?

The UK Tier 2 Visa is the required work visa which enables an overseas individual to work in the UK. The individual’s stay in the UK is based on and for the purpose of employment. As part of our Gamechanger and Vocational Healthcare Programmes, when you have received an offer of employment with an NHS Hospital Trust in the UK, Future Perfect Health will collaborate with your UK Hospital employers in applying for your Tier 2 visa for the UK.

When can I apply for a Tier 2 visa?

If you have been offered a skilled job in the UK and you are from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.
Nurses from outside the EEA, for example, countries such as India, the Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Canada, Kenya, etc. can contact Future Perfect Health for any current nursing opportunities for a Tier 2 visa.

Have the required OET scores accepted by the NMC or the GMC changed?

The grades required to register with the General Medical Council (GMC) have not changed.

The score required in OET’s Writing subtest to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has changed from a B to a C+.
